PART# 1030 - 4 Jaw Chuck
($64.75)
4 jaw 3 1/4 inch diameter lathe
chuck 3/4-16 thread mount,
jaws adjusted independently (reversible heat treated steel
jaws)
The 4 jaw chuck is the most versatile
of all the chucks. It can hold round and square shaped
materials. Unlike the 3 jaw chuck (self centering) each jaw
on the 4 jaw chuck is adjusted independently of the others. |
Features of the 4 jaw chuck include:
-
Hardened steel jaws with steps
-
Reversible range 1/8 to 3 1/4 inches
-
Jaws are independently adjusted in pairs
-
Setting a work piece off center creates
crankcase and cam shapes
-
Parts may be machined to run very true
(this will require more time to center than a self
centering 3 jaw chuck)

PART# 1050 - 3 Jaw Chuck
($64.10)
3 jaw 3 1/4 inch diameter
self-centering scroll chuck (steel body) with reversible
aluminum soft jaws, 3/4-16 thread mount,
|
The 3 jaw chuck is the easiest chuck
to use. It can hold round and hex shaped materials. Unlike
the 4 jaw chuck, the jaws on the 3-jaw chuck all move at the
same time allowing the user to load and unload parts very
quickly. Soft jaws are easy to bore out, thereby making the
chuck run very concentric to the spindle.
When using 3 jaw chucks the operator
should bore out the jaws to enable the chuck to run
concentric to the spindle. To bore out the jaws you put a
round washer in the back of the jaws (washer touching chuck
body) and tighten down on it. You then take light cuts on
the jaws with a boring bar to clean up the jaw tips. When
done there will be a small protrusion on the jaws where the
washer was. This can be removed with a file. Once bored out,
the chuck should run concentric to the lathe.

PART# 1060 - 4 Jaw Chuck
($72.40)
4 jaw 3 1/4 inch diameter self-centering scroll chuck (steel
body) with reversible aluminum soft jaws, 3/4-16 thread
mount,
|
The 4 Jaw self centering
chuck is very easy to use. It can hold round and square
shaped materials. Unlike the Independent 4 Jaw chuck, the
jaws on the 4-jaw self centering chuck all move at the same
time allowing the user to load and unload parts very
quickly.
The 4 Jaw self-centering
chuck will not be as accurate as the Independent Jaw chuck
(part #1030) since you are relying on all 4 jaws to move in
exact synchronization. But for some applications (usually
wood) the self-centering chuck works fine. If ultra
precision is needed the Independent 4-Jaw chuck (part# 1030)
should be used

PART# 1200 - Top Slide (Compound)
($44.80) |
Top Slide (Compound) mounts on cross slide for
cutting tapers and angles with tool post.

PART# 1220 - Milling Attachment
($62.90)
|
Milling
attachment mounts directly on cross
slide (2 x 3 3/4" table)
The
milling attachment is used to hold the
work piece while the cutting tool is
held in the headstock spindle. The
attachment provides vertical travel of
approximately 1 3/4 inches. The dial
provides travel in .001" increments.
The
cutters (end mills) are held in the
spindle with collets to provide maximum
rigidity. Miniature end mills come with
3/16" diameter shanks and various size
cutting diameters. The end mills will
cut all materials steel,aluminum,brass,
plastic and wood. |
